Search Engine Optimization Series Part 1: Optimizing Advertising by Country - Including & Excluding Locations Needs to be Done Manually - List of all world countries to exclude in Google & Bing Searches

It's important to take notice when creating paid advertising campaigns on Google, Bing, Yahoo, or Facebook to specifically exclude countries you're not targeting, as default settings to optimize ad revenue for the provider are typically skewed to show the ad to as many people as possible regardless of how well it applies to your business. You'll want to clean this up using the below process to preserve precious advertising dollars and spending.

Take for example Google Ads. To do this, you'll want to pay close attention under "Locations" under your ad settings and select "Enter Another Location" and "Advanced Search". A dialog box will pop-up, click "enter locations in bulk" and paste the following list of countries:

Click exclude all. Now enter "United States" and click Target. You're now only targeting the United States for your ads and should minimize spending outside of your target demographic. Of course if you're targeting only Australia, Canada, or another country you'll want to make the necessary adjustments to the above.
